Bad decisions on Hamas and Kings coverage

Re "Desolation of Gaza" (Page A1, July 22): The Sacramento Bee has outdone itself. Following the lead of the New York Times by giving cowardly Hamas a free photo-op on its front page is dumb. Describing the Kings' victory as "Summer crown means very little" is also not good.

Does it dawn on anyone of the elite press that this coverage is the reason why the cowardly Hamas is hiding behind its women and children. Why doesn't Hamas ask its ally, Iran, to supply them with defense systems. Could it be they gain too much by the Gaza death toll on the front page of our national press?

The Kings winning in Las Vegas is a big deal to us die-hard fans. They played good basketball. One can only hope they follow up this season. There is room for both soccer and basketball in Sacramento.
