Re "Israelis in front row for Gaza bombing" (Page A1, July 23): Barack Obama and John Kerry have repeated the apparently required dogma supporting Israel's right to defend itself. What about the Palestinian's right to defend themselves?

The Palestinians started defending themselves in the 1940s when Israel drove the Palestinians off their land and into refugee camps. The Palestinians have continued to try to defend themselves by any means possible against relentless oppression by Israel and continued Israeli land grabs in the West Bank. While I have no idea how to resolve this tragedy, I am tired of the American press bias labeling Palestinians as terrorists.

Israel and the United States created this tragedy by taking land from the long-established residents of Palestine and creating a state that has required oppression of those dispossessed with massive U.S. taxpayer funding. I expect Americans in the Palestinians' situation would rebel. Please provide us with more balanced reporting.
