Re "Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera scrap fall season because of financial problems" (Aug. 4): While I am saddened at the cash shortage that has provoked the cancellation of the Sacramento Philharmonic, Sacramento music lovers still have options.
The Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra has been woven into the very fabric of Sacramento's music scene over the years, many times without the fanfare they deserve. However, it should be noted that the SCSO is in very good financial shape and remains as Sacramento's global ambassador. They just performed at the Vatican last summer and will perform at Notre Dame next summer.
It's time for Sacramento to take the SCSO more seriously and enjoy the wondrous musical adventures they offer.
