Re "Friends mourn animal rescuer" (Our Region, Aug. 20): Elaine Greenberg devoted herself to caring for abused, old and feeble Rottweilers. She went without to ensure that they were well-cared for, fed and exercised. T

o be maligned in print and be investigated by Animal Control is disgusting and outrageous. This giving person died alone surrounded by the animals she loved. Obviously, she was failing both physically and mentally in the last months of her life. How very sad she and the dogs she loved suffered.

My current 11-year-old Rottie came from Second Chance, and Elaine verified my references before allowing me to adopt. I continued to keep in touch with her over the years. Animal control should be ashamed of themselves.
