Re "Saying goodbye to Michael Brown" (Page A1, Aug. 25): Publishing a large photo of the Michael Brown funeral on the front page of The Bee is entirely inappropriate.
There is an ongoing investigation in the case by the federal government and the county government, and all the facts have been established. By its action, The Bee is elevating the case beyond its proven status and elevating Michael Brown to celebrity status without any basis for doing so.
The prudent thing to do in this case is to wait until the facts have been established. If The Bee feels compelled to publish this story prior the all the facts being established, placement on an inside page would be more appropriate.
The news media play fast and loose when engaging in this kind of action in the absence of all the facts.
