Re "Burger King plans expansion of Tim Hortons" (Our Region, Aug. 26): Another corporation is pulling up stakes and moving out of the country to avoid paying the taxes imposed on them here. What do we hear from the politicians? That the corporation are un-American.

On the contrary, the corporations are fulfilling their fiduciary responsibility to the investors by saving and making money. That's the thing that people in government don't understand: these companies are in business to make money, which is something the most politicians have no idea how to do.

All the government does is confiscate money from people and business and then spend twice as much as the take in. Let's not forget that we are told the California budget is balanced with a surplus. Just don't count the 300 billion or so of unfunded retirement accounts. It's time to lower the corporate tax rate and be competitive with the other countries.
