Re "California officials delay massive Delta water tunnel project" (Capitol & California, Aug. 27): The Delta tunnels are now delayed, we're told. In truth, they are dead. The people of California have been able to stop the tunnels- with the aid of truthful scientists- and bring this $68 billion boondoggle to a screeching halt.
The tunnels are dead because the Bay Delta Conservation Plan finally woke up to the fact that their precious tunnels cannot make new water. All they can do is transfer more water south. This is a true definition of a water grab.
The people have seen through the reams of propaganda and all the deceptive tactics used by the water agencies and have spoken in clear language: We don't want your stupid tunnels. Let's hear it for all the people who smothered the BDCP with their complaints. Democracy wins again.
