Re "Don't shut out black residents from clean energy revolution" (Viewpoints, Aug. 27): Aubry Stone is not being factual when talking about households with solar panels. He indicated that solar panel owners are rich, do not pay for infrastructure charges and that the poor are having to pay more for electricity than they should to cover those costs.

I'm not rich and have had solar panels for over 10 years. As part of my electric bill, I must pay a fixed fee of $14 each month, just like all Sacramento Municipal Utility District customers, regardless of the amount of power used or generated. I checked with PG&E and S.C. Edison, and they too have a fixed charge that all customers must pay for infrastructure.

Stone does not mention that everyone benefits from homes that have solar. Solar homes help reduce pollution and the need for additional costly power plants during peek demand periods of summer. Everyone benefits from solar.
