State budget mishandled

I'm feeling troubled. If the readers of this letter live in California, they ought to feel troubled too.

Gov. Brown and our legislature are busy congratulating themselves for the state's balanced budget and rainy day fund. That is simply a lie. Our state has between $250 and $350 billion in unfunded pension liabilities.

There are no efforts being taken to resolve this problem, which will eventually have a disastrous effect on the state and our residents. The only hope of our governor and legislature is that they are gone from Sacramento before the collapse occurs.

However, they have been busy in Sacramento. The governor recently welcomed illegal immigrants to California, and the legislature has passed a bill which will provide $100 million a year in state money for people to buy diapers for their babies. Imagine having to spend your own money for your child's diapers.

Pathetic.
