Bruce Maiman: Let’s put cash cow from college textbooks out to pasture

Between 2002 and 2013, college textbook prices rose 82 percent – nearly three times the rate of inflation – a recent federal study found. California State University officials tell the Los Angeles Times that on average, students spend more than $1,000 annually on textbooks.
