Public safety watch: Motorcycle owner helps police nab suspect

An alert owner got his stolen motorcycle back and helped police arrest a suspect during the early morning hours of April 28.
A resident of the apartment complex at 7711 Greenback Lane discovered that his motorcycle had been stolen. A short time later, he spotted a suspect subsequently identified as Anthony James Wisner with the bike in the vicinity of San Pablo and San Simeon drives.
Officers were called, and they arrested Wisner without incident. He was booked into the Sacramento County jail. Wisner was released from custody May 1 after being arraigned on misdemeanor burglary and vehicle theft charges.
Robbery to grand theft
A Citrus Heights man remains in jail, but a felony charge of strong-arm robbery has been changed to grand theft. After a court appearance May 1, Shaun Michael Tillis also was deemed ineligible for bail, according to jail records.
Tillis was arrested during the early morning hours of April 27 after he was identified as one of three men who attacked another man near Antelope Road and Zenith Drive.
The victim, who resides in North Highlands, told officers that he was beaten and kicked by three men after refusing to give up his backpack. He described a Volkswagen Jetta as one of two vehicles used by his attackers.
Officers spotted a Jetta about a half-hour later near Antelope and Garden Gate Drive, about a mile from the place where the man told officers that he was attacked. The victim then identified Tillis, 22, who was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Tillis denied any involvement in the incident, officials said.
He was originally arrested on suspicion of strong-arm robbery, and bail was set at $40,000.
Tough love leads to arrest
Who knows what tragedy was avoided by one mother's close supervision of her son?
A 17-year-old boy was charged with possession of a concealable firearm recently after his mother found a .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun in a drawer in her son's room. The mother called the police, and the boy was booked at juvenile hall, Citrus Heights police said.
The incident occurred last month west of Auburn Boulevard, near Rusch Park.
Officers determined that the gun had no ammunition and no magazine, officials said.
The boy told police that he was just holding the weapon for a friend.
