City fire investigators said Sunday that they haven't determined what started a fire in the computer lab at Leonardo da Vinci Middle School in Sacramento's Hollywood Park.

Sacramento Fire Capt. Jim Doucette said it would be several days before investigators know the cause of the two-alarm fire late Saturday.

Doucette said crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly in the classroom, preventing it from spreading throughout the school. He said the fire caused minor damage to the attic and classroom.

Doucette said a fire alarm at the school went off at 10:43 p.m.,alerting firefighters.

No one was injured in the fire.

Vince Matranga, sergeant in charge of Sacramento City Unified School District police, estimated damage to 25 percent to 30 percent of the classroom.

"Fortunately, the Fire Department got here quickly," he said. "The room is full of comptuers, but we were able to cover them. There may be damage to one or two."

Matranga also said the school's intrusion alarm had not been tripped and no broken windows were found, but that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
