PLACERVILLE - Two men were shot and one died Sunday at a residence on Nutmeg Lane, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department.

Following a 911 call at 1:55 p.m., deputies arrived at Nutmeg Lane, where Morris Greenberg, 37, of Placerville was found in the driveway with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head, a sheriff's spokesman said. Greenberg is a former Burlingame Police officer. He worked there from Aug. 12 1996, until his retirement April 2, 2007, Burlingame authorities said today.

He was transported to Sutter Roseville Hospital.

A second call was made to 911 reporting that Anthony Dumont, 26, of Grizzly Flats suffered a gunshot wound at the residence on Nutmeg Lane.

Dumont's family drove him to El Dorado County Fire Station 19 but found no emergency medical personnel there. They then drove Dumont to Bones Roadhouse restaurant, seeking a phone with which to call for help. Dumont died there.

A sheriff's spokesman said a preliminary investigation suggested Greenberg shot Dumont as a result of a dispute.

One semi-automatic handgun was found at the Nutmeg residence.

• Do not copy and paste outside material into the comment box.

• Don't repeat the same comment over and over. We heard you the first time.

• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
