A North Sacramento man is being sought in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old Sacramento man, who was gunned down Saturday night and left to die on the street, authorities said Sunday.

The suspect -- identified by Sacramento police as Pablo Gonzalez, 42 -- fled the scene and could be headed to Southern California with his wife and children, said Officer Konrad Von Schoech.

Gonzalez is believed to be driving a green, 1997 Ford Explorer. He is described as 5-feet 6-inches tall, about 180 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. The license plate of the vehicle is 6COR640, he said.

The victim, identified by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office as John Edred Silver, died at the scene, shortly after the 7:44 p.m. shooting in the 500 block of Calvados Avenue.

Silver was shot several times, police said.

The victim was standing in front of the suspect's home when a confrontation broke out between the two men, police said.

"We're not quite sure what was said. We're still talking with witnesses," Von Schoech said. "This was not a random act."

"He may be armed," he said. "So people should use caution. If they spot the truck, people should immediately call 911."

A reward of up to $1,000 is available for tips that lead to the suspect's arrest by calling Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357.
