The Sacramento County Board of Education is accepting applications to fill the Trustee Area 2 seat.
On July 21 the board voted to fill the seat of Gretchen Bender, who moved out of the area. Her term was to expire in June 2010.
Applications are being accepted through Friday. They can be delivered to the David P. Meany Education Center, 10474 Mather Blvd., or mailed to P.O. Box 269003, Sacramento, CA 95826-9003.
Applications should include a letter of interest, a résumé and no more than three letters of recommendation.
The board will hold open-session interviews with candidates. Board members expect to make an appointment Aug. 18.
Area 2 includes the communities of Antelope, Del Paso Heights, Elverta, Gardenland, Hagginwood, North Highlands, North and South Natomas, North Sacramento, Rio Linda, Robla and a portion of Foothill Farms.
The board will hold a public meeting on the topic at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Joe Mims Jr. Hagginwood Community Center, 3271 Marysville Blvd.
