Today

Carmichael

• A memorial tribute is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Earl J. Koobs Nature Area, 5325 Engle Road. Colors will be presented at 11 a.m.

Citrus Heights

• A service with speakers and music begins at 10:30 a.m. at Sylvan Cemetery District, 7401 Auburn Blvd. Sponsored by the American Legion, Citrus Heights Post 637 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Citrus Heights Post 5991.

Elk Grove

• Pre-parade festivities begin at 10:45 a.m. at 8820 Elk Grove Blvd. with the reading of the names of Elk Grove veterans. The parade, which will begin at 11 a.m., will include more than 1,400 people and more than 100 vehicles. Entries include the California National Guard Marching Band, nine school bands and 10 Scout troops. Representatives of the 101st Airborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade will march with ex- prisoners of war.

Mather

• A celebration with Rep. Dan Lungren recognizing four pilots of the World War II Women Airforce Service Pilots begins at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Plaza, 10535 Hospital Way.

Rocklin

• A flag ceremony with speakers begins at 8 a.m. at William Jessup University's flagpole, 333 Sunset Blvd.

• A commemoration is at 11 a.m. at Rocklin Cemetery, Veterans Memorial, 4090 Kannasto Road, sponsored by the American Legion, Rocklin Post 620 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Roseville

• A breakfast and ceremony begins at 8 a.m. at Roseville Veterans Memorial Hall, 110 Park Drive, sponsored by Roseville American Legion Post 169. A pancake breakfast is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the dining room. A ceremony begins at 11 a.m. in the auditorium.

• A ceremony is at 2 p.m. at the World War II Monument, 114 Vernon St., sponsored by the city of Roseville, SureWest, the Roseville Historical Society and local veterans groups.

Sacramento

• The 18th annual service honoring Mexican American veterans and all veterans begins at 1 p.m. at the soldier's statue, Capitol Mall and 10th Street.

• Veterans who need mobility assistance can receive a free folding cane from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sam's Club, 3671 North Freeway Blvd. Part of the "Hugo Salutes Our Veterans" program. You do not need to be a Sam's Club member to receive a cane.

• The Veterans History Project and Retired Senior Volunteer Program are looking for veterans to share their stories and have their experiences permanently archived at the Library of Congress. For more information, call (916) 875-4460.

Woodland

• A celebration with speakers and music is at 11 a.m. at the Yolo County Courthouse, 725 Court St., sponsored by American Legion, Yolo Post 77 and Yolo County Veterans Coalition.
