Sierra College trustees Aaron Klein and Scott Leslie have announced that they will run for re-election in November.
Three trustees of the five-member board are up for re-election, including Jerry Simmons who has decided not to pursue another term, said Diane Wright, a Sierra College spokeswoman.
Klein, 29, of Colfax and Leslie, 40, of Rosevillle, were first elected in 2004 to the Sierra Community College District board. During that time the 20,000-student college has weathered ups and downs.
The college was able to turn around three straight years of budget deficits into four years of balanced budgets, according to a statement issued by Klein. However, the fiscal upswing was marred by divided leadership over the ousting in 2005 of a former college president.
The official candidate filing period will open July 14 and close Aug. 8 for most offices, according to the Placer County Elections Division.
