ROSEVILLE Placer County's new Bill Santucci Justice Center was dedicated Wednesday before about 300 guests.
The center, which features nine courtrooms, is expected to make it easier for residents of Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln to take care of judicial matters. The county's main courthouses have been in Auburn, causing time and driving issues for court participants.
The justice center, 10800 Industrial Ave., is named after the late Placer County supervisor and former Roseville mayor. Santucci died of a heart attack on May 7.
Speakers paid tribute to Santucci during the dedication of the $54 million building.
Jim Holmes, chairman of the county Board of Supervisors, said the building is "a fitting tribute to an outstanding public servant."
The center's court building is nearly ready for use, with the first cases expected to be heard July 15.
A separate building to house the District Attorney's Office, Public Defender's Office and the Probation Department is scheduled to open later in the year.
