Rocklin may extend ban on adult clubs

Published: Friday, Jun. 27, 2008 | Page 2B

ROCKLIN – The City Council is expected to extend a moratorium today on adult entertainment businesses while the city attorney prepares stricter regulations for their operation.

The council will meet at 5 p.m. in City Hall, 3980 Rocklin Road – with two members attending via telephone – to consider the extension, which otherwise ends today.

Rocklin has no adult entertainment businesses, and the ordinance restricts where they can open. For instance, they're prohibited within 1,000 feet of a school or church.

Other communities, however, regulate how adult establishments can operate, including hours, whether alcohol can be served and the proximity of customers to performers, City Manager Carlos Urrutia said.

Earlier this year, the council approved a 45-day moratorium.
