Placer wins housing grant

Published: Thursday, Jul. 03, 2008 | Page 2B

KINGS BEACH – The state Department of Housing and Community Development has awarded a $3.3 million housing grant to Placer County.

The money, from Proposition 1C funds for infrastructure improvements, will be used to provide affordable rental units in Kings Beach, according to a news release from Sen. Dave Cox, R-Fair Oaks.

"This grant will help keep working families in the basin – closer to their places of employment," Cox said in the release.

Lake Tahoe area employees long have had to move outside the area to find reasonably priced housing, Cox noted.
