Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse apparently won't be coming to Rocklin after all.
The national chain has decided not to pursue opening a proposed store on the east end of Granite Drive, Rocklin Planning Services Manager Sherri Abbas said Thursday.
Representatives of Lowe's were not available Thursday to comment on the sudden shift in plans.
But Abbas said property owner and developer Paul Petrovich still plans to seek approval for the 138,000-square-foot building.
"So we are going to go through the hearing process anyway, even though Lowe's won't be the tenant," Abbas said.
Lowe's has two stores near Rocklin - one in Roseville, and another in Lincoln.
Earlier this year, the town of Loomis appealed the Rocklin Planning Commission's recommendation to approve the proposed Lowe's store, citing concerns about the validity of the environmental analysis.
The City Council is scheduled to consider approval of the project, sans a tenant, at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
