Boy Scouts spent the weekend digging up stumps and planting trees at Roseville High School to replace the 21 trees chopped down by vandals last month.
Granite Bay High School student Kapil Yedidi, 17, a member of Boy Scout Troop 121, organized the community tree planting as part of his Eagle Scout project.
Vandals destroyed the trees during the evening of June 9 or early June 10, leaving only stumps, according to the Roseville Police Department.
Many of the vandalized trees were in an interior courtyard at the school, having been planted during a relatively recent campus landscaping project.
School officials estimated the loss at nearly $10,000.
Roseville Electric donated the replacement trees through its Shade Tree program, which provides free trees to residential and business customers to help reduce cooling costs by shading structures.
A cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the vandals was offered by the Roseville Joint Union High School District and Roseville Crime Stoppers.
