Starting tonight, Rocklin Unified School District teachers plan to picket before scheduled Back-to-School events to protest stalled contract talks.
The protest were set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Rocklin and Whitney high schools, at 5:30 p.m.Wednesday at district elementary schools and 5:30 p.m. Thursday at middle schools, according to a news release.
"Teachers will be picketing at every school site this week to let district administrators know we deserve better," said Mary Dick, president of the Rocklin Teachers Association, which represents 536 educators in the district.
The association said the district has offered a "0 percent" salary increase to teachers during the talks.
The teachers association has been certified to begin "fact-finding" on Sept. 24, a step that leads to a state mediator coming in to try to help both sides reach an agreement.
