The Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District plans to purchase a building as a permanent headquarters.
The district, which has operated for years in two modular buildings in Lincoln, would spend $4 million for an empty building at 2021 Opportunity Drive, near Denio's Farmers Market.
"It fits everything we need," said longtime board member Harlin Smith. "It's a 27,000-square-foot building and will be able to house our administrative offices, our laboratory and our equipment."
Smith said the district's current offices are only about 4,000 square feet and some equipment must be stored outdoors. The building would be paid for with funds from an assessment approved by property owners in 2007.
The trustees are expected to approve the purchase in a special meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday in its temporary headquarters, 150 Waverly Drive, Lincoln.
