County supervisors have approved plans for a partial cloverleaf interchange at the only set of traffic lights on Highway 65 from Roseville to Lincoln.
The interchange, estimated to cost $28.5 million, will be at Sunset Boulevard, a main entryway into Rocklin.
The project, scheduled to begin this fall, will be completed in 18 to 24 months, weather permitting, Mike Fitch, a county spokesman, said in the news release.
Funds will come from the Highway 65 Joint Powers Authority created by Placer County, Roseville and Rocklin to help finance four South Placer interchanges along the highway.
Traffic mitigation fees for development provide the money for the joint powers budget.
The United Auburn Indian Community, owners of the Thunder Valley Casino near Lincoln, also will contribute $4.7 million to the project.
