Roseville police are looking for help in finding thieves who have been stealing tires and chrome rims off vehicles.
At least three such incidents have taken place since Sept. 8, and the thefts have cost vehicle owners nearly $9,000, said Dee Dee Gunther, a police spokeswoman.
In the first incident, which occurred about 11:30 p.m. Sept. 8, a witness saw four males removing the tires and rims from a 1981 Cadillac Deville, Gunther said. The theft took place in the parking lot of Taqueria San Jose in the 1000 block of Douglas Boulevard, she said.
On the night of Sept. 18, thieves struck again, targeting two other vehicles, Gunther said.
One theft was in the 1700 block of Windrush Lane while the other was in the 1800 block of Iceberg Lane, she said. The locations are less than a mile apart, she said.
The vehicles targeted were a 2006 Ford F150 pickup truck and a 2005 GMC Yukon sport utility vehicle, she said.
Gunther said the tires and chrome rims are "quite expensive."
"I don't know if they are fencing them or putting them on their own vehicles," she said.
Gunther said the truck on Windrush Lane was left sitting on stones taken from a nearby retaining wall while the Yukon was left sitting on cinder blocks.
Anyone with information is asked to call police detectives at (916) 774-5070 or the Roseville Crime Stoppers at (916) 783-7867.
