Lisa Giannetta, a 22-year employee with the U.S. Postal Service, was sworn in Tuesday as Rocklin's new postmaster.
She will oversee the Rocklin post office at 5515 Pacific St., which has 79 employees and daily operations of 19 city routes and 20 rural routes.
Giannetta, 47, will assume the post formerly held by Andrew L. Palmer, who relocated to be the postmaster of Placerville, in El Dorado County, according to a Rocklin postal supervisor. Until the new postmaster's arrival in Rocklin, Patrick Burt served as officer in charge of local postal operations.
Giannetta began as a letter carrier in Simi Valley in 1986 and, after a series of promotions, was named postmaster in Meadow Vista in 2001 and, in 2004, Nevada City's postmaster.
She lives in Auburn with her husband, Rocky. They have three grown children, Ron, Jessica and Rocky Jr., and one grandson, Kellen, 2.
In her spare time, Giannetta enjoys gardening, outdoor activities and drives to the coast. She is a member of the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce, Meadow Vista Trails Association and the St. Teresa of Avila Parish.
