AUBURN A former employee of a beer distributing company learned the hard way that trying to put a move on his bosses wasn't as easy as doing it on a basketball court.
Dylan Demoss, 22, of Sacramento has been sentenced to 60 days in the Placer County jail and ordered to pay $4,000 in restitution and fines for collecting workers' compensation after lying about how he was injured, the District Attorney's Office reported.
Demoss said he injured his knee in November 2006 carrying beer into an Auburn supermarket, said Scott Owens, senior deputy district attorney.
Demoss received benefits and medical treatment, Owens said, but a subsequent probe by insurance investigators revealed Demoss injured his knee while playing basketball with friends.
Demoss pleaded no contest Tuesday to a felony charge of insurance fraud, Owens said.
