Roseville Rotary members were among the 685 Rotarians volunteering April 26 in a mass, one-day community service event known as Rotarians at Work Day.
Here's a by-the-numbers look at Rotary's recent day of volunteerism:
More than 32 percent of the total Rotary membership within Sacramento's Central Valley participated.
More than 40 individual Rotary Clubs within Rotary International's District 5180 (which includes clubs north of Oroville, to south of Walnut Grove, and from West Sacramento to El Dorado Hills) joined the volunteerism to benefit their respective communities and neighborhoods, including renovating, reading-tutoring, fundraising, building, cleaning, clearing and collecting, among many other activities.
By the end of the day, 6,836 Rotary members in 1,235 Rotary Clubs completed more than 243 volunteer service projects worldwide.
Regional Rotary projects
Among District 5180's numerous services for Rotarians at Work Day, Rotary Clubs within Placer County implemented the following projects:
Granite Bay Rotary filled food and care packages for U.S. military troops.
Rocklin-Loomis Basin Rotary picked up trash on Taylor Road.
Rocklin-South Placer Rotary cleaned up and hauled away trash within the city of Rocklin.
Roseville and Roseville Sunrise Rotary removed non-native plants and cleared Mahany Park and the adjoining preserved greenbelt.
