A private burial service will be held Monday for former Roseville Mayor and Placer County Supervisor Bill Santucci.
Flags at city buildings are flying at half-staff in honor of Santucci, who died Wednesday after suffering a heart attack at home.
A lifelong Roseville resident, Santucci, 79, spent his retirement years as a civic leader, working on various commissions before serving on the Roseville City Council from 1986 until 1994, when he was elected to the Placer County Board of Supervisors. He served on the board until 2006.
"Bill was a model citizen and dedicated council member," Roseville City Manager W. Craig Robinson said in a statement from the city. "He served our residents and our businesses through consensus-building and kindness."
The Santucci family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to The Gathering Inn, P.O. Box 297, Roseville, CA 95678, or to the Tommy Apostolos Fund, P.O. Box 291, Roseville, 95661. The former provides shelter for the homeless, and the latter takes needy children shopping for school clothes.
