With the whole world seemingly still atwitter over Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's acrostic veto message (the one that spelled out "f*** **u") of a bill by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, D-S.F., Ammiano's hometown paper rallied to his side Thursday with an editorial titled "Message on the margin." The first letters of each line in the Chronicle missive to the guv spelled out: "Grow up girlie man." Your turn, guv.

With next Tuesday's election in the 10th Congressional District looming, a new poll shows Dem contender John Garamendi (right), the current lieutenant governor, 10 points ahead of Reep businessman David Harmer, the son of former Lt. Gov. John Harmer. The KPIX-TV-sponsored poll shows Garamendi doing better with female voters, and Harmer cornering the churchgoer, gun-owner electorate. Don't know about church- going, gun-owning women.
