St. Francis and Granite Bay will defend their respective Sac-Joaquin Section girls tennis titles when the 2009 championships begin Monday at various sites.
Delta River League champion St. Francis is the four-time defending Division I champ. The Troubadours have a first-round bye and will host the winner of Monday's Laguna Creek-West (Tracy) match in the quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Sierra Foothill League titlist Granite Bay, the two-time defending D-II champions, also get a first-round bye. The Grizzlies, led by returning D-II individual singles champion and No. 1 singles player Karolina Kecki, will host the winner of Monday's Inderkum at Rodriguez (Fairfield) match in the quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Title matches in both divisions will be played at the highest seeded surviving team's home site. The winners in both divisions will advance to the California Interscholastic Federation Northern California championships, Nov. 20-21 at the Diamond Hills Sports Club in Oakley.
The Sac-Joaquin Section individual girls Division I singles and doubles championships will be Nov. 12-13 at the In-Shape Sports Club in Stockton.
The section's individual D-II finals are set for Nov. 12-13 at Johnson Ranch Racquet Club in Roseville.
