Raiders notes

McFadden has painful memories of K.C. game

ALAMEDA – One thing stands out for rookie running back Darren McFadden from his first game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

And it's not rushing for 164 yards or his first NFL touchdown.

"Getting caught, basically," McFadden said with a laugh.

He's referring to Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard tracking him down on a 50-yard run. That tackle led to McFadden injuring his right toe, the first of two toe injuries that have cost him three games this season.

Coming off his first two-touchdown game in Denver, McFadden remembers Pollard's tackle because he can't remember anyone else running him down from behind.

He'll get a chance to outrun Pollard on Sunday when the Raiders host the Chiefs.

"It's just one of them things," McFadden said. "You get caught from behind, you're like, 'It's different now.' But it's something you get over. I ain't tripping. It happened. Everybody gets caught now and then."

The Raiders ran for 300 yards that game with McFadden, Michael Bush and Justin Fargas playing well before Fargas left the game with a groin injury.

The Raiders don't expect to run the ball so easily this weekend.

"It's going to be a tough one the second time around," quarterback JaMarcus Russell said. "Those guys are going to look back at the film and see everything. We're ready to come for a dogfight."

New additions – The Raiders signed guard Dylan Gandy on Wednesday.

Gandy, who went to Texas Tech, was a fourth-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2005 and was released in May. He was with the Denver Broncos this season and was cut Oct. 7. He didn't appear in any games for the Broncos.

Gandy has played in 42 games, with 14 starts. His most extensive action came in 2006 when he started 11 games for the Colts, who won the Super Bowl that season. He started one of the 10 games he played for Indianapolis last season.

Wide receiver Javon Walker was placed on injured reserve to make room for Gandy on the 53-man roster.

Guard Junius Coston was waived Tuesday, and cornerback Darrick Brown was promoted from the practice squad.

Injury report – Center Jake Grove (calf) and linebacker Ricky Brown (groin) did not practice Wednesday.

Tight end Zach Miller (groin) and wide receiver Chaz Schilens (ankle) were limited.

No blackout – Sunday's game is sold out and will be televised locally.
