Nearly $40,000 in locally sponsored scholarships recently was awarded to college-bound seniors from Rocklin High School.
The numerous winners in the school's 2008 Assist-a-grad Scholarship program were announced at the annual senior awards night ceremony.
Thunder Spirit awards, which honor extraordinary service to Rocklin High, were presented to Robbie Wanamaker, Hannah Sturges and Kevin MacMaster. Each received a $100 scholarship and a plaque.
Other Assist-a-grad Scholarships included the Mark Hardy Honorary Scholarship for $1,000, which was presented to Patrick Bassal.
Kristine Hansen and Megan Myers received $500 Abecedarian Awards.
Rocklin dentist Nancy Archibald sponsored a health science scholarship of $500 for Lauren Kelley.
John Brophy of Keller Williams Realty's $250 Challenge of Change Awards went to Alexis Salazar and Elizabeth Hirsch.
Roseville dentist Kevin Chang sponsored four $250 Foundation Awards. Lindsay Rios and Sara Bruton were honored, along with Will Matsuoka, who received Chang's Asian Award, and Junior Olympian Jessica Subido, who received the Chang Asian Sports Award.
The Katie Taylor Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 was presented to Katie Toepke.
Derek Faulkner and Vincent Chandler each received a $500 scholarship in memory of Casey Clanton.
Robin Trimble sponsored the $500 Margaret Schonbeck Memorial Scholarship, which went to James Watkins.
Two Pereira Awards, also sponsored by Trimble, of $250 each went to Olivia Hughes and Felicia Tan.
Mary Ann Thomas and her family presented a $1,000 Coach Brad Thomas Memorial Scholarship to Beau Bussani.
The Matt Redding Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 was given to Samantha Garrison.
Britt and Jenny Cooper of RE/MAX Advantage provided funding for the Jerry Keenan Memorial Scholarship of $500 for Rob Scherer.
The Economic & Planning Systems Scholarship of $500 went to Alyssa Martinez.
NEC sponsored two $500 scholarships, which were awarded to Elizabeth Sheets and Olivia Hughes.
Sara Bruton, Rob Scherer, Katie Toepke, Felicia Tan each received a $250 scholarship from the Rocklin High School Booster Club.
The Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce granted $1,000 scholarships to Annie Jasinski, Jared Pickrell, Patrick Bassal, Tyler Salata, Ryan Bridge, Sara Bruton, Alyssa Fahey, Nima Nubakhsh and Rob Scherer.
The chamber of commerce also awarded $500 Sierra College scholarships to Megan Myers, Brian Ross and Morgan Richie. In addition, the chamber sponsored a $1,000 scholarship to William Jessup University for Lauren Crutchfield.
Sara Bruton received the Rocklin Association of Professional Administrators' $500 scholarship.
Alyssa Habian and Brooke Wolfe received$500 scholarships from the Rocklin Teachers' Professional Association.
Lauren Dick, Lisa Machado and Audrey Van Camp were each honored with a $100 Rocklin Community Leaders Award.
Erin Barry, Taylor Cook and Anna Drozdoff each received a $100 Rocklin Community Performing Arts Award.
Rocklin Kiwanis Club Scholarships of $1,000 were given to Chelsea Didinger, Elizabeth Hirsch and Alex Cates.
The Rocklin Lions Club gave $500 scholarships to Felicia Tan and Dmitriy Zamayev.
The Springfield at Whitney Oaks Scholarship Club honored five Rocklin High seniors - Alex Cates, Leandra Jacobson-Guy, Annie Jasinski, Joselyn Del Cid, and Rob Scherer - with $1,000. Danelle Carr, Kevin MacMaster, Lauren Crutchfield and Kelly Kinsella each received a $500 Phil Spears Honorary Staff Scholarship provided by the Rocklin High School staff.
Prior to senior awards night, American Legion Post 620 awarded a vocational education scholarship of $500 to Angelina DeLuca.
