Marketplace: Sutter Roseville's lab receives accreditation

Published: Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 - 12:00 am | Page 8F

Sutter Roseville Medical Center's Clinical Laboratory received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists.

The clinical laboratory operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provides chemistry, special chemistry urinanalysis, hematology, coagulation, transfusion, microbiology and pathology services.

Accreditation inspectors examined the lab's records and quality control for procedures going back two years, as well as its equipment, facilities, safety program and records. The qualifications of the entire staff was looked at.

"This recognition is a reflection of our staff's commitment to quality," laboratory manager Debbie Hayes said. "It also assures patients they are receiving a high level of care at our medical center."

CAP is an association of nearly 16,000 physician members. Sutter Roseville Medical Center is among more than 6,000 CAP-accredited laboratories in the nation.

Molly Maid helps victims

Molly Maid of Placer County and the Ms. Molly Foundation are sponsoring the Make a Difference Drive to help local domestic violence victims.

During October, which is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a portion of the service fee for every home cleaned will go toward shelters and personal care items for victims of domestic violence.

"All too often, families impacted by domestic violence are forced to flee their homes with nothing but the clothes they are wearing," said Lisa Duvall-Allard, owner of Molly Maid of Placer County.

Last year, the drive raised more than $100,000 for local shelters and safe houses.

Tax-deductible donations also can be made by calling Molly Maid of Placer County at (916) 782-9722 or going to www.mollymaid.com/foundation .
