Three men suspected of taking a cash register during a robbery at a Rocklin market early today were arrested in a nearby community about 10 minutes after the crime was reported, authorities in Placer County reported.
Rocklin police received a call about the robbery at 2:53 a.m. from the Rocklin Mini Mart, which reported that three men had just left in a small dark-colored, four-door vehicle after first demanding money and then taking the cash register, according to a news release from the California Highway Patrol.
About 3 a.m., patrol units from the CHP and the Placer County Sheriff's Department stopped a car fitting the description in front of the Denny's restaurant in Newcastle, the news release stated.
The cash register was found inside the vehicle and the three men were arrested without incident, the news release said.
Rocklin Police Sgt. Scott Horrillo identified the three suspects as Carlton Alexander, 20, of Elk Grove; Johnny Johnson, 27, of Natomas; and Ricco Thomas, 20, of Sacramento.
He said Alexander has been booked into the Placer County jail on suspicion of conspiracy while the other two have been booked on suspicion of conspiracy and burglary.
"We're still investigating, and the charges may change," Horrillo said.
