Roseville received a state Clean Air Award for its new ordinance banning smoking in parks.
Roseville's ban, which went into effect in January, prohibits smoking in the city's 55 public parks and more than 4,000 acres of open space, including streambeds and bicycle trails.
Golf courses are the only exception.
The award was presented at the April 2 City Council meeting by the California Clear Air Project, which is funded by the state Department of Health.
Roseville, which is the first city in Placer County to establish smoke-free parks, was nominated for the award by the county Department of Health and Human Services.
