How you can help victims in the Philippines

With the devastation in the Philippines just coming into focus and our region’s strong connection to the Filipino people, many here are asking, “What can I do?”

Currently, the best way to aid and support the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, is with a financial donation. Here is a list of organizations that are involved in the emergency relief efforts.

To donate through UNICEF: unicefusa.org or call 800-367-5437 or text RELIEF to 8644233.

To donate through Red Cross: redcross.org; contact the Capital Region chapter at 916-993-7070.

To donate through the Salvation Army relief fund: salvationarmyusa.org.

If you need information on rescue efforts or to find information on missing persons in the disaster area: google.org/personfinder/2013-yolanda.
