It’s been a big week for quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers.
Kaepernick replaced the struggling Blaine Gabbert as the team’s starter, coach Chip Kelly announced Tuesday, and a day later Kaepernick signed a new contract with the 49ers, as reported by The Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows.
The quarterback situation in San Francisco has been a central topic of conversation throughout sports media this week.
Former quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner explained how Kaepernick would fit nicely into Kelly’s system.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Steve Wyche discussed what could be expected from Kaepernick at this point in the season. Rapoport says “he’s slinging it right now” but acknowledges concerns about the shape he is in, while Wyche says the new deal puts him in a good position.
