Hunter Pence leads off the 11th inning with a home run as the Giants defeat the Rangers 9-7 to spoil the Texas debut of Cole Hamels. Brandon Belt homers twice for the Giants, who have won 14 of their last 17 games. Hamels, the first pitcher traded during a season immediately after throwing a no-hitter, left with the Rangers up 7-4.
Marcus Semien homers to back a strong outing by Oakland newcomer Aaron Brooks as the A’s defeat the Cleveland Indians 5-1 to snap a three-game losing streak. Brooks allows one run and five hits over seven-plus innings for his first career win. The right-hander, who joined Oakland as part of the June 28 trade that sent Ben Zobrist to Kansas City, strikes out five with no walks.

River Cats left-hander Ty Blach, coming off a four-hit shutout, only makes it through five innings Saturday night, allowing six runs and nine hits in Sacramento’s 6-4 loss at Salt Lake. Blach takes the mound in the fifth with the River Cats leading 3-1 but gives up five runs, including a three-run homer by Alfredo Marte.
