Sacramento State women break 3-point record in season-opening win

Freshman Hallie Gennett made eight of Sacramento State's record 17 3-pointers as the Hornets routed Cal State Northridge 92-73 in their season opener Friday at home, according to the Sac State athletics website.
The victory marked the start of Bernard "Bunky" Harkleroad's tenure as a Division I head coach with an exclamation point, setting the team's single-game record for 3-pointers.
Gennett finished with a game-high 26 points, missing just one of her attempts beyond the arc, while the Hornets shot 40.5 percent from 3-point range.
USC 64, UC Davis 55 in Davis – Kelsey Harris led the Aggies (0-1) with 14 points and seven rebounds, according to the UC Davis athletics website. Ariya Crook scored 24 to pace the Trojans (1-0).
Sacramento State 73, UC Santa Cruz 43 in Sacramento – Mikh McKinney led five Hornets (1-0) in double figures with a game-high 14 points, according to Sac State's athletics website. The Hornets shot 56.5 percent from the field while holding UC Santa Cruz (0-1) to 29.4 percent and not allowing a single player to score in double digits.
Portland 100, UC Davis 83 in Portland, Ore. – Josh Ritchart led the Aggies with 18 points, while Corey Hawkins added 16 points and eight rebounds, The Associated Press reported.
