Several starters from Granite Bay's CIF State Division I championship team graduated, and the Grizzlies lost leading rusher Tony Ellison to a season-ending knee injury in Week 4. But the Grizzlies are 5-2 as other players stepped up:
Marc Ellis, WR: After catching just three passes for 31 yards as a reserve last year, the senior is breaking out this season with 49 catches for 744 yards and eight touchdowns.
Dylan Keeney, TE: Keeney, who scored on an interception return in the state-title win over Long Beach Poly and has committed to Colorado, has 431 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Josh Neal, QB: In his first season as a starter, Neal has become one of the section's steadiest leaders with 1,359 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
Cameron Smith, LB: A year after leading the Grizzlies with 196 tackles as a sophomore, the national recruit has a team-best 75 this season.
Drew Tonda, LB: The junior and first-year varsity starter is second on the team with 70 tackles, including 11 or more in four games.
