Jake Browning threw for 311 yards and five touchdowns, including four to Josiah Deguara, to lead No. 1 Folsom to a 63-0 romp over No. 6 Granite Bay in its Sierra Foothill League debut Friday night at Folsom High School.
Deguara finished with nine catches for 219 yards and four Folsom running backs combined to rush for 220 yards. Folsom, the No. 2 team in Northern California behind De La Salle of Concord, is 5-0. Granite Bay is 2-2.
This is Folsom’s first year in the mega-tough SFL after playing previously in the Delta River League.
No. 2 Elk Grove 56, Davis 13 in Davis – Spencer Sheff rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns and Tyler Vander Waal passed for 141 yards and a score to lead the Thundering Herd over the Blue Devils (1-3, 0-1) in a Delta League opener. Eltoro Allen, Manny Scott-Anderson and Sai Taamu each scored touchdowns for Elk Grove (4-0, 1-0).

No. 7 Del Oro 50, No. 17 Nevada Union 14 in Grass Valley – Logan Hurst threw touchdown passes of 49 and 21 yards to Trey Udoffia and a 45-yard scoring pass to younger brother Mason Hurst; Justin Burrage returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown and Dalton Bannister had a fumble return for another score as the Golden Eagles (2-3, 1-0) rolled over the Miners (3-2, 0-1) in the Sierra Foothill League opener.
Mo Nieves had touchdown runs of 82 and 2 yards for Nevada Union.
No. 8 Jesuit 28, No. 16 Pleasant Grove 21 at Sheldon – Beau Bisharat rushed for touchdowns of 36, 23 and 7 yards, and Isaiah Bailey came up with a critical fourth-down sack late to lead the Marauders (3-1, 1-0) over the Eagles (1-3, 0-1) in the Delta Conference opener. Bisharat’s 7-yard score with 3:28 left in the game was the difference.
No. 11 Monterey Trail 42, Sheldon 0 at Monterey Trail – Trey Nahhas rushed for three touchdowns, including a 53-yarder, and Jermaine Bell returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown to lead the Mustangs (5-0, 1-0) over the Huskies (1-3, 0-1) in the Delta Conference opener.
No. 12 Inderkum 35, Yuba City 19 in Yuba City – Larry Hardy caught touchdown passes of 50 and 43 yards from Jonathan Henry and had touchdown runs of 70 and 49 yards – one week after scoring twice on interception returns – to lead the Tigers (4-1, 1-0) over the Honkers (1-4, 0-1) in the Tri-County Conference opener.
No. 14 Sacramento 46, Kennedy 6 in Greenhaven – Caden Voges passed for 305 yards and six touchdowns, Davon Ownes scored twice and Lonny Powell recorded four sacks and forced two fumbles for the Dragons (3-1, 1-0 Metro).
No. 15 Christian Brothers 35, Rosemont 21 in Rosemont – Jamarri Jackson rushed for three touchdowns and returned a kickoff 78 yards for a score, and Chris Guillen threw a five-yard scoring strike to Jalen Swanigan as the Falcons (4-1) rolled over the Wolverines (2-3). Eric Davis returned a kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown for Rosemont.
Vista del Lago 62, No. 18 Placer 51 in Auburn – Colby Carrera rushed for six touchdowns and Brad Rittenhouse returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score to lead the Eagles (2-3) over the Hillmen (3-2). Clark Pietromonaco and receiver Frankie O’Neal combined for touchdowns of 67 and 40 yards, and Owen Scott rushed for a 55-yard touchdown for Placer.
Burbank 62, Johnson 6 at Luther Burbank – Michael “Race Car” Roots and Eric Brown each rushed for four touchdowns to lead the Titans (1-3, 1-0) over the Warriors (1-2, 0-1) in the Metro Conference opener.
Bella Vista 19, Whitney 2 in Rocklin – Connor Zari threw touchdown passes of 26 and 15 yards to Ako Skondras and Isaiah Shelton, respectively, and Andreas Litton had a 62-yard scoring run as the Broncos (2-2, 1-0) topped the Wildcats (0-4, 0-1) in the Capital Valley Conference opener.
Del Campo 20, Roseville 17 in Fair Oaks – Ben Purcell threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Tariq Mitchell late in the fourth quarter to rally the Cougars (3-1, 1-0) over the Tigers (1-3, 0-1) in the Capital Valley Conference opener. Purcell and Mitchell also connected on an 8-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.
Pioneer 42, River City 20 in West Sacramento – Julio Orejel returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown and also had an 80-yard touchdown catch on a pass from Justin Steadman to lead the Patriots (2-3, 1-0) over the Raiders (1-4, 0-1) in a Tri-County Conference game.
Laguna Creek 23, Valley 20 at Cosumnes River College – Chris Williams rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Cardinals (1-3, 1-0) over the Vikings (2-2, 0-1) in the Metro Conference opener. Alaye Sanders had an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Valley.
Bear River 14, Escalon 7 in Lake of the Pines – John Voter III caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Jason Voter and rushed for a 2-yard score as the Bruins (3-1) prevailed over the Cougars (3-2) in the defensive slugfest.
