Davis High junior Fiona O’Keefe outdistanced 969 finishers Saturday to win the girls race at the CIF State Cross Country Championships at Fresno’s Woodward Park.
O’Keefe covered the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 56.9 seconds. She won the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I race earlier this month.
O’Keefe competed Saturday in the Division I field, and outdistanced Marissa Williams of Palisades Charter-Brentwood, who was second in 17:01.7.
Davis sophomore Sofia Castiglioni was 14th in Division I (49th overall) in 18:26.2 as the Blue Devils finished 34th as a team.
Bella Vista finished eighth overall, as junior Kendall Derry placed sixth in the D-I race in 18:02.7. She was 19th overall. Teammate Hannah Wohlenberg, also a junior, was 53rd overall and 17th in D-I with a time of 18:28.
St. Francis was 11th overall, led by Miranda Meyers, who took 26th in the D-I field and 90th overall in 18:42.3.
Vista del Lago junior Sarah Anderson finished ninth in the Division III girls race in 18:16. She was 34th overall.
Jesuit junior Sean Kurdy, the D-I section champion, was the top area boys’ finisher. He was fifth in D-I with a time of 15:17.9 and 15th overall.
Other top area boys finishers included Del Campo senior Edward Chance (10th in D-II in 15:19.5, 20th overall) and Placer senior Moshe McCarter-Ribak (15th in D-III in 15:38.9, 61st overall).
