A week after succumbing to the defense and depth of national power St. Mary’s of Stockton in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I title game at Sleep Train Arena, the Lions eliminated visiting Davis 77-54 in a CIF Northern California Regional Division I game.
The top-seeded Lions, ranked No. 1 by The Bee all season, stormed to leads of 22-8 and 57-34.

McClatchy sophomore forward Jordan Cruz had 25 points, including five three-pointers, and grabbed five rebounds. Junior center Gigi Garcia had 14 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots, and senior point guard Lauren Nubla contributed 10 points and four assists as the Lions improved to 4-1 in the playoffs.
On Tuesday, McClatchy plays Pittsburg of the North Coast Section in a semifinal.
Emma Stenz led the Blue Devils with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
St. Mary’s, the top seed in the NorCal Open Division, beat McClatchy 78-55.
In another Division I game, Yumi Drossos had 18 points as second-seeded Oak Ridge used a suffocating defense to beat visiting Oakland Tech 55-39.
Oak Ridge, which lost to McClatchy in the section semifinals, faces longtime power Berkeley in a semifinal Tuesday.
Berkeley has won 12 NorCal titles, six since 2006. Oak Ridge beat Berkeley in the 2010 NorCal final at Sleep Train en route to a CIF state title.
▪ Noah Blackwell scored 21 points, Jordan Brown had 17 points and 15 rebounds, and Thomas Austefjord had 10 points and 10 rebounds as fourth-seeded Woodcreek beat visiting Freedom of Oakley 70-59 in D-I play.
Woodcreek plays at top-seeded De La Salle of Concord on Tuesday in a semifinal. De La Salle ousted McClymonds 50-37.
▪ Solomon Young scored 16 points, Stephen Matthews had 13, Raphael Durr 12 and Christian Terrell and Sayvon Hines nine each as top-seeded Sacramento opened D-II play with a 72-53 rout of San Marin of Novato.
The Dragons, who lost 49-46 to Open Division contender Modesto Christian in the section final, host St. Mary’s on Tuesday in a semifinal. St. Mary’s eliminated Dublin 83-72.
▪ Eric Toles scored 20 points and had eight rebounds, and guards Jeff Dresser and Jaaron Stallworth provided ballhandling and defense as sixth-seeded Cosumnes Oaks beat No. 3 Montgomery 56-49 in a D-II game in Santa Rosa. Stallworth had 16 points.
The Wolfpack, which lost to Sacramento in a section semifinal, visits Archbishop Mitty of San Jose in a semifinal Tuesday.
▪ A week after winning its fourth consecutive section championship, fourth-seeded Capital Christian beat visiting Palma of Salinas 59-42 in D-IV.
The Cougars play at top-seeded Marin Catholic on Tuesday. Marin Catholic defeated Liberty Ranch 84-69.
