Leading Off: NorCal's most beloved team: Giants or 49ers?

Luke, a midtown Sacramento resident and longtime Giants fan, took exception via email last week when I proclaimed the 49ers as the most beloved pro sports team in Northern California.

His argument was valid, considering the Giants have won the "World Serious" – in Luke's words – two of the past three seasons while the 49ers have not won a Super Bowl in 18 years.

Still, it's a good debate, especially with baseball season starting Sunday.

Do NorCal fans have a bigger spot in their heart for the 49ers now that they're title contenders again and a year away from moving into their long-awaited stadium in Santa Clara, or the defending world champions who play in the best ballpark in baseball?

Do fans prefer Colin Kaepernick over Buster Posey? Matt Cain over Patrick Willis? Jim Harbaugh over Bruce Bochy?

With apologies to loyal A's and Raiders fans, the Bay Area's top teams have S.F. logos.

Some fans can choose a favorite. Others would consider it as impossible as choosing between children.
