Pregame notes: Rudy Gay out for third consecutive game

Kings forward was considered a “game-time decision” tonight against the Jazz.

SALT LAKE CITY Rudy Gay made this trip but has been ruled out because of his strained left Achilles.

Gay warmed up but was not given the go-ahead to test out his injury.

Gay has now missed three games after being injured in the first quarter of last Wednesday’s loss at Houston.

Derrick Williams will start at small forward for the Kings.

*DeMarcus Cousins (sprained left ankle) did not travel to Utah.

*The player Michael Malone mentioned as a problem for the Kings wasn’t Gordon Hayward, Trey Burke or Derrick Favors.

It’s Richard Jefferson that has “quietly” hurt the Kings in two games this season. Jefferson, who was forgotten about in Golden State last season, is averaging 16.5 points while shooting 60 percent against the Kings.

Prediction time: The Kings are on the road and playing their third game in four nights. And they don’t play defense well consistently.

Considering the Kings’ problems containing the ball on the perimeter, this could be big night for Utah’s Trey Burke.

Jazz 113, Kings 104

My record: 26-17
