Kings guard Marcus Thornton left Wednesday’s 109-101 win over the Toronto Raptors after a hard fall left him with a bruised right hip and bruised left knee.
X-rays were negative.
“He’s sore right now,” said Kings coach Michael Malone. “... We’re going to see how he feels in the morning, possibly get an MRI in the morning and see those results. I’m hoping that he’s able to fly with us to be on the trip because he played very well in the first half and was doing some good things.”
Thornton had 12 points at the time of the injury.
The Kings leave for Boston to start a four-game road trip Thursday morning.
*Malone removed DeMarcus Cousins late in the fourth quarter for defensive purposes. Of course, Cousins did not like this.
“I was not happy about that but he saw something that I didn’t and you’ve got to respect it,” Cousins said.
What Malone saw was fatigue and he elected to use Jason Thompson and Quincy Acy.
“I never took him out (in the fourth quarter) and he was winded, he was a little tired,” Malone said. “And all they were running was pick-and-rolls, pick-and-rolls. (So it was) to get a fresh body in there to help guard the pick-and-rolls a little better.”
*The Kings led wire-to-wire for just the second time this season. The other time was Nov. 13 against Brooklyn.
*The Kings attempted and made season highs with free throws, making 41 of 51.
*The Kings are 4-2 when Cousins, Rudy Gay and Isaiah Thomas all have at least 20 points, which they did against the Raptors.
*Thomas had a career high in free throws attempted (16) and made (15).
