The Kings announced David Arseneault Jr. would be the head coach of their NBA D-League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns.
Arseneault, 28, replaces Joel Abelson, who left to take a job with the New York Knicks.
Arseneault was the associate head coach for Grinnell College, under his father. Grinnell is known for it’s fast-paced offense, fullcourt defense and emphasis on three-point shooting.
Arseneault played at Grinnell and was a three-time Bob Cousy Award finalist as a point guard, finishing as the all-time Division III leader in assist average (9.4).
Never miss a local story.
Erie Bayhawks assistant Ben McDonald will join Arseneault’s staff along with holdover Ross McMains.
McDonald played at the University of California, Irvine standout, followed by stints in the NBA (Cleveland, Golden State), the CBA and overseas. He began his coaching career in the college ranks at the University of California, Dominguez Hills (1996-97) and Indiana University (2001-04).
Also, Scott Schroeder was promoted from assistant coach/video coordinator to Director of Basketball Operations, similar to the role he had with Sioux Falls of the D-League for two seasons before coming to Reno.
Jervae Odom will return for his fourth season as the team’s lead trainer and equipment manager.
