MATCHUP TO WATCH
49ers cornerback Tarell Brown vs. Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon
Blackmon was suspended for the first four games of the season, but he's been making up for lost time over the last three. He has 384 receiving yards and is clearly Jacksonville's most explosive offensive weapon. The 49ers have had at least one interception a game during their four-game winning streak. Blackmon will line up in various spots and will be covered at times by different cornerbacks. His main adversary, however, will be Brown.
THREE KEYS TO GAME
The 49ers' greatest opponent may be fuzzy focus. The Jaguars are winless and are at or near the bottom of the NFL in several key categories. The 49ers must guard against road weariness after a 10-day trip and looking ahead to this week's bye.
Jaguars tailback Maurice Jones-Drew is averaging only 3.1 yards per carry and has just two touchdowns. Still, the 49ers' defense can't overlook the small, but powerfully built runner. He'll get a lot of carries early as Jacksonville tries to establish its ground game.
The 49ers' coverage units are rounding into shape. But the return game lacks pop. Kyle Williams had three more fair catches on punts last week, including at least one he could have returned, and he leads the league with 19 fair catches.
